I will be taking in my sister's kid in about 3 years. My sister and her husband are going to be traveling for a bit due to money issues, so they won't be able to settle for more then a years time. The daughter wants go be able to go to the same high school I'm 19 and will be a dental assistant or dental hygienist. (I want to wait to have a stable job before taking her in, so I'd rather wait an extra year to make sure I am stable.) By this time the girl will be 15. I'm wondering if there is anything I should expect, or anything I should get to prepare for her. I'm already planning on getting a 2 bedroom apartment so she can have her own room. Anything else?

15 is crazy. You need to talk to your sister about her strategies for parenting her, because probably she will want to stay out late, maybe have people over, all the things you wanted to do when you were 15. Make a chores schedule for you guys to share, make sure her school knows she's living with you.
