Admission to M.Sc. and D.Phil in Cognitive Science 2011-2012


Eligibility
For M.Sc. Cognitive Science:

Students who have completed a Bachelors degree in Behavioural/ Cognitive Science or related disciplines including Psychology, Neuroscience, Biosciences, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Medicine, etc. are eligible to apply for admission to the Master programme.

Students should have at least 55% (for General) at the Undergraduate level (50% for OBC/SC/ST) for appearing in the entrance exam. A written entrance test followed by interview is conducted for the purpose of selection.

For D.Phil in Cognitive Science:

Students who have completed a Master program in Behavioural/ Cognitive Science or related disciplines including Psychology, Neuroscience, Sciences, Engineering (e.g., Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical Engineering), Linguistics, Medicine, and Philosophy are eligible to apply for admission to the Doctoral Program. Students with NET/ JRF/ CSIR/ GATE/ ICMR are encouraged to apply.

A minimum score at the Post-graduate Examination of 55% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point under the seven point Letter Grade Scale), laid down by the UGC in the case of General/ OBC candidates; or 50% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/ Grade Point) in the case of SC / ST/ PH/VH candidates.

A minimum average score in the entire academic career of 54% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point) in the case of General/ OBC candidates; or 49% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point) in the case of SC/ ST/ PH/VH candidates.

Application Fees :
For outstation candidates (those applying from outside of Allahabad): 550 INR
For local candidates (those applying from Allahabad): 500 INR

Note : Payment is accepted only through Demand Drafts. Draft to be drawn in favor of 'CBCS' payable at Allahabad.

The University of Allahabad shall conduct the Combined Research Entrance Test-2011 (CRET- 2011) at Allahabad for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (D. Phil.) Programme of the University for the session 2011-12 in the subjects specified below:

Eligibility & Application:

Candidates for admission to the DPhil Programme must hold the master's degree (or a degree recognised by the University as equivalent thereto) in a relevant subject from the University, or any other university or institution recognised by it, and must fulfil other prescribed conditions of eligibility.



Regular teachers of the University of Allahabad and of any institution maintained by it or admitted to its privileges and International Students are exempted from appearing at CRET for admission to DPhil program. All other candidates for admission to the DPhil Programme in the concerned subjects are required to appear at CRET-2011 after applying and register their candidatures through the Online Application and Registration Process at the website link:

and remitting the admissible Test Fees in the prescribed manner.

Test Fees for Candidates required to appear for (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Tests) or (Level 2 and Level 3 Tests):
Genera / OBC: Rs 1000.00
SC / SC / PH / VH: Rs 500.00

Test Fees for Candidates exempt from the Level 1 and Level 2 Tests, and required to appear only for the Level 3 Test:
General / OBC: Rs 500.00
SC / SC / PH / VH : Rs 250.00

Important Dates:
Last Date of Online Form Submission: Friday 15th July 2011
Admit Cards download dates: Monday 18th July 2011 onwards
Date of Entrance Test: Sunday 24th July 2011
Level 1 Test: from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon (Duration 3 Hours)
Level 2 Test: from 1.30 pm to 4.:30 pm. (Duration 3 Hours)
Declaration of results of Level 1 and Level 2 tests: By 2nd week of August 2011

For Online Registration the candidates are required to download the Challan of State Bank of India from the website link:

and fill it up correctly by mentioning all the details required. The bank account number of PGAT 2011 is pre-printed along with the applicable fee which is Rs.600/- in case of General and OBC candidates and Rs300/- in case of SC / ST / PC candidates. The completed challan along with the applicable fee can be deposited at any of the branches of State Bank of India.
