The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi is going to organize a Summer School on VLSI Design (SSVD_2011) from May 16-20, 2011 for Under Graduate(BE/B.Sc(Eng/Elec.)/B.Tech) and May 23-27, 2011 for Post Graduate(M.E./M.Tech (ECE/CS/EEE)./M.Sc. (Electronics/Phy& Elec/CS)).

This course is designed based on the demands of companies for trained man power in Analog and Digital VLSI Design. This course will cover theory with practical, on available advanced technology tools Cadence Analog and Digital System Design Tools (GPDK45nm) and Xilinx’s and Active HDL with Spartan3E and Probe5. Lectures will be delivered by course experts of this institute. I request you to circulate this notice among the students and nominate the interested students from your premier institute to attend the Summer School.

SSVD_2011 Course Objectives : On successful completion of this course, students will be able to effectively work on:- Analog VLSI Design, Digital VLSI Design, Cadence Software, CMOS Digital Logic Design, SPICE Level Simulation and Verification, Schematic Level Design & Analysis, Layout Design &Verification, Switching Action of the Transistors used in IC, VHDL programming , RTL Design, Logic Level Design, Architecture Design, Circuit Level Design, Xilinx’s and Active HDL Simulation, Verification & Process to download on FPGA/CPLD kit, Spartan-3E and Probe-5, Mini project in VLSI.

Qualifications & Fees: For students pursuing BE/B.Tech.(ECE/EI/CSE/IT/EEE), Rs. 5000/- & ME /M. Tech. (ECE /EI /CSE /IT /EEE) /M.Sc. (Electronics /Phy.& Elect/CS), Rs. 6000/- by demand draft in the favour of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra payable at Ranchi

1. Institute will provide free lodging, boarding and Course Materials.
2. Registration Form is to be filled-in and sent along with Registration Fee to the Programme Coordinator at the address mentioned below.

ADMISSION TO MBA PROGRAMME - 2011, BASED ON CAT-2010

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the 2-year (4-semester) fulltime MBA programme 2011 at Mesra, and our Extension Centres at Jaipur, Kolkata, Lalpur and Noida.

Candidates should read the MBA 2011 Information Brochure for details of eligibility, counselling
& selection procedures, fee structure, number of seats and reservation, addresses of Centres,

Eligibility:
(A) Candidates must have appeared in CAT 2010.
(B) They must hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree (minimum 10+2+3) in any discipline.
Candidates of B.Sc. / B.A. / B. Com. Honours must have minimum 55% marks in average (45%
for SC/ST) in their Honours subject. Candidates of other graduate courses must have minimum
55% marks (45% for SC/ST) in graduation, computed as average of marks in ALL subjects in
which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects). Candidates graduating in 2011 can
also apply, provided they have at least 55% marks (45% for SC/ST) at the time of applying.
They must submit marksheets by 31 Oct 2011. Candidates with qualifications acquired through
correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if they acquired such
qualifications as working professionals, and have passed the programme.
(C) Candidates must have Verbal Percentile at least 40 (25 for SC/ST) and Total Percentile at
least 40 (25 for SC/ST) in CAT-2010.


Selection Procedure:
Provisional selections will be based on Total Percentile in CAT-2010 of candidates who have
applied and fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned above. All notifications will be on our website.
No separate intimations will be sent to candidates.


How to Apply:

The MBA 2011 Information Brochure is given on our website. To apply for the programme, eligible candidates must fill in the online application form on our website, and send printoutwith requisite enclosures and crossed DD for Rs. 1,600/- in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi, by 29 April 2011, at the address below. The link for filling the online form will be active from 9 am on 14 March 2011 to 7 pm on 22 April 2011. The Institute will use CAT-2010 for short-listing candidates for its full-time MBA programme. The IIM’s have no role in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

Eligibility:

· Candidates must hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree (minimum 10+2+3), in any of following:
1) Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), or
2) B.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics, or
3) B.Sc. with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at graduate level.

· Candidates of B.Sc. Honours must have minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in
average in Honours subject. Other candidates must have minimum 60% (45% for
SC/ST) marks in average in graduation, computed as average of marks in ALL subjects
in which appeared (excluding optional subjects).
· Candidates must have passed in ALL subjects in which appeared in Class 10 (excluding
optional subjects) with minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average, computed as
average of marks in ALL subjects in which appeared (excluding optional subjects).
· Candidates must have passed in ALL subjects in which they have appeared in Class 12
(excluding optional subjects) with minimum 60% (45% for SC/ST) marks in average.
Marks in Class 12 will be computed as average of best 5 subjects in which candidate has
appeared, including English, Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry.
· Candidates graduating in 2011 can apply, provided they can submit marksheets by 31
October 2011.
· Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning
programmes are eligible only if they acquired such qualifications as working
professionals, and have passed the programme.


Selection Procedure:

Online Entrance Test on 6 and 7 June 2011 at Allahabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Noida, Patna and Ranchi. Provisional selections will be based on performance in the Test of candidates who have applied and fulfill the eligibility criteria.

website, and send printout with requisite enclosures and crossed DD for Rs. 1,600/- in

2011 to 7 pm on 4 May 2011.
