Nursing Diagnosis in Drug Rehabilitation - Drug DetoxificationNursing diagnosis in detoxification room can be repeated in rehabilitation, because the same problems while being treated in the rehabilitation room. One cause appears the same problem is the lack of client motivation not to commit abuse and substance dependence. Another thing that also plays a role in the client's problems is the lack of family support in helping to reduce abuse and substance use.

Nursing problems that often occur in the detoxification include :
  • Ineffective individual coping: the inability to hold suggestion
  • Impaired self-concept: low self-esteem
  • Risk of injuring themselves, others and the environment

While the problem of nursing in the rehabilitation can be the same as in the detoxification, the main focus of NANDA nursing diagnoses in the rehabilitation are :
  • Ineffective family coping: the inability
  • Lack of entertainment activities

Here is some form of implementation carried out on clients with substance abuse and dependence, namely (Wilson and Kneisl, 1992) :
  1. Intervention program

    The role of nurses is to determine a suitable program for clients in accordance with the level of client dependency on pain and symptoms appear. For rehabilitation programs in the space is divided into 2, namely: 1) rehabilitation at any time in which nurses act as facilitators rather than handling physical and psychiatric problems but on client self-care. The goal is to enhance the ability of clients in their own self care, 2) advanced treatment, aims to provide recovery for clients experiencing alcohol and substance dependence or rejection of the client's family.

  2. Individual

    Education for clients, for example, encourage clients to attend sessions held by individual nurses according to the needs of clients, the aim is to improve client knowledge in helping to restore the dependence on substances.
    • Changes in lifestyle, which teaches clients how to discuss coping with commonly used. It is expected that the client can change the use of destructive coping becomes a constructive coping.
    • Strengthen the client's self-awareness, by identifying positive things owned by clients and can be developed in a positive and reduce negative things in the client.

  3. Family

    Education for family health that aims to improve knowledge and skills in caring for family members of families experiencing substance abuse and dependence.

  4. Group

    Treatment modalities tailored to the client's criteria and conditions that will be included in the therapy.
