BSc Nursing Career

Care as a Career Option
If you choose Nursing as your profession, then you have choose non of the noblest professions in the world. Nursing is not confined just to patient care only. The range and variety of subjects had made nursing very demanding With the progressive rise in life expectancy, the need for domestic nursing and geriatric care is shooting up. The profession is mostly a preserve of women, although there are male nurse as well. Also the emphasis that is now being laid in healthcare systems call for the services of a large number of nurses.
Indian nurses have earned a good name the world over for their competence and commitment. They are in great demend in places loke the US and many European countries. The salary levels overseas are attractive, often more than a lakh of Indian rupees month

Courses
Generally two types of courses are offered for nursing B.Sc. degree and General Nursing Programm (GNm), a diploma course. In addition , there is the Auxilliary Nursing and Midwifery programme, which targets those who wish to work in community health centres. Some hospitals and Colleges conduct entrance exams for admission.

B.Sc. –Nursig
B.Sc courses in nursing provides basic knowledge about nursing, first aid and midwifery. The nurses are also trained in all the theoretical as well as practical aspects of nursing.

Eligibility
For Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) course, one should be above 17 years of age and should have passed Higher Secondary School Certificsate Examination(12 Years course) or equivalent, with physics, chemistry,biology and English with 45% of aggregate marks.
Selection of the candidates is based on the merit of the entrance examination held by University or competent authority.
