Medical Scribe - Emergency Room (Fairfax, VA)

Virginia Emergency Medicine Associates (VEMA) is recruiting recent college graduates for our scribe program at the Fair Oaks Emergency Department in Fairfax, Virginia. Medical scribes receive first-hand exposure to patient care in a fast-paced emergency room setting. This is a full-time paid position targeted at individuals interested in gaining experience in healthcare.

The role of the scribe includes:

- Taking patient histories

- Transcribing details of the physical exam and patient orders

- Documenting procedures performed by the physician

- Checking on the progress of lab, X-ray, or other patient evaluation data

- Recording physician dictated diagnoses and instructions

Scribes are paid on an hourly basis, provided with fully paid health and dental benefits, and given the opportunity to contribute to a 401K plan. After a period of training and orientation, scribes work directly alongside board certified Emergency Physicians and are able to receive recommendations for graduate schools.
