Doctoral Fellowship in Criminology and Police Science, Admissions 2011-2012


Applications have been invited by Bureau of Police Research & Development, New Delhi for Fellowship Programme in Criminology & Police Science aimed to encourage and foster research and development in the field of Criminology and Police Science.

The research will be carried out in any of the priority areas pertaining to Criminology and Police Science. This will cover police organization and functioning, Criminal investigation, Role of the Police in changing society, Crime-Criminals and Victims, Criminal Justice System, Organisation and functioning of criminal courts, correctional administration, juvenile delinquency and the like.

NUMBER, DURATION & VALUE OF FELLOWSHIP:
i) There shall be 6 Fellowships per year for Criminology and Police Science.
ii) The duration of fellowship shall normally be tenable for three years.
iii) The value of each Fellowship shall be Rs. 8,000/-P.M. for the first two and Rs. 9,000/- p.m. for the third year.
iv) A Contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- per year will be sanctioned to each fellow under each fellowship/scheme.
v) A departmental assistance of Rs. 3,000/- per year will be paid to the department in which the fellow is registered for the Ph.D for providing infrastructural facilities, (Store and equipment, technical and clerical/managerial assistance, traveling cost for giving presentation, assured supply of electricity/Water etc.) to the research fellow under this programme.
vi) HRA and medical benefits may be allowed as per UGC rules.

ELIGIBILITY:
i) The fellowships are open to Indian National of 30 years for General Category and 35 years of age in Reserve Category (SC/ST/OBC).

ii) First or second class Master’s Degree not less than 55% marks for General Category and 50% for Reserve Category (SC/ST/OBC) in Criminology, Sociology, Social work, Psychology, Social Anthropology, Public Administration, Political Science, Law and Police Administration.

iii) The Candidate Should be registered for Ph.D Degree in any of the subjects mentioned above.
Desirable: NET or SET examination (if any) passed, conducted by UGC is an added advantage.

APPLICATIONS:
Applications for award shall be submitted on the prescribed Pro-forma only, available from the website: www.bprd.nic.in, and duly completed by the candidate along with required enclosures to, the Director General, BPR&D, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, Block No.11, 3rd/4th Floor, CGO Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi-110 003 on or before the prescribed date. The candidate working in any university or Government Institution should apply through proper channel.

Application for the award should be accompanied by the following documents.
(a) Certified copy of the Matriculation or School Leaving Certificate in evidence of age.
(b) Copies of all the degree, diploma, professional and experience certificates along with their respective Mark sheets duly attested.
(c) If the Candidate belongs to Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe, he/she should send certificate in evidence of caste.
(d) Return of any original document is not guaranteed, hence should not be sent.
