My fiance went to the urgent care dentist tonight for a tooth ache and had to get 4 fillings done. The dentist was doing the work and the place got busy so the dental assistant offered to finish up by buffing the fillings down. He let her finish and she was being very rough and trying to rush through it to get to the other people. The buffer slipped off his tooth and sliced his tongue open. They had to give him stitches in his tongue. They charged him and sent him on his way with antibiotics and pain medicine for his tongue. He cant eat or drink anything and he can barely talk. His tongue is swollen and cant take anti inflammatory meds because of other meds thats hes currently taking. Can we sue them?

Anyone can sue for anything, whether you'd have any chance of winning is the question. I'm not really sure what the laws are when an assistant is the one who did the procedure in question. I would contact your state dental association. They usually have a way of making a complaint that will be reviewed by their committees without going to a trial initially to try to reach some kind of resolution, and they may be able to give you some more information on whether your case would have merit. That way you'll have some idea of what kind of case you could have without having to spend a lot of money on a lawyer.
