Terrible toothache?!?

I have a few dental problems.. about 3 months ago i had 2 teeth that the dentist thought needed root canals ( the upper molar and the tooth right next to it ), but he said he could get away with just doing very big fillings on them and they would need crowns. Now he told me if the tooth continued to hurt over the next month or two then i would probably need a root canal. So tonight It started hurting like crazy, on a scale of 1-10 it would easily be 9. (only because ive given birth, that was a 10). I cant afford to go back to my dentist until next week, what do i do? Should i go to a urgent care facility? I have my x-rays and everything, what could they do for me? Its killing me, i put orajel on it every 5 mintes!

You need antibiotics. That should make the pain go away, but it takes a few days to work. Pain medication may be in order as well (generally vicoden). The dentist usually will prescribe both of these things. If you can't afford to go back don't worry. You can usually call it in and they will write the prescription for you without an appointment. Ask for them to do that. Say you can't afford to make an appointment but are in great pain. They will ask where you get your medicine at then they will call it in and you can go pick up your medication, sometimes the same day. The 2 most important things: 1. Let them know you are in tremendous pain. 2. Make sure you have an appointment scheduled for next week like you said and let them know that.
