4 consecutive hours per day, Wed and Fri, between the hours of 1:00 pm and 8:00 pm and

4-8 hours per week between 9:00am and 8:pm Monday through Friday

As a member of the mental health team, provide direct clinical services to youth, including, but not limited to completing psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications for both effectiveness and side effects, including obtaining informed consent, collaborating/consulting with the mental health, medical, facility, and other staff in the management and treatment of residents with mental health needs, facilitating/managing urgent mental health situations, providing documentation of services provided, and practicing within OCFS policies, procedures, and memorandum.
Scope Of Work:
The psychiatrist will be required to provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment services to youth during their stay at the Reception Center. Services will be provided on-site on a mutually agreed upon schedule. Specific components of this service include, but are not limited to:
Evaluations of youth (via direct assessment and record review) and establishment of multi-axis DSM-IV diagnosis, when appropriate.
Provision of assessment, referral and treatment services, including chemotherapy, when appropriate.
Supervision of the administration of any psychotropic medications prescribed under the direct service component of this array.
Participation in effecting appropriate psychiatric hospitalization and discharge when indicated.
Appropriate documentation of psychiatric services will be maintained in a format consistent with OCFS policies and procedures.
Case consultation, especially with regard to decisions to refer youth to psychiatric facilities.
Requirements
Have a valid license to practice medicine in New York State.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.

Two (2) years of professional experience providing psychiatric services to children and adolescents as a member of the psychiatric staff of a psychiatric hospital and/or in the psychiatry department of a general hospital, or in another setting. Experience with a juvenile justice population is preferred.

Establish and provide evidence of Professional Malpractice Insurance.
