Solution for poor oral hygiene due to wisdom tooth extraction?

I had a lower, left wisdom tooth pulled about 23 days ago. Due to a complication, I was very limited in my oral hygiene since. After my visit today, everything is good and they told me I should stop "babying" my mouth and go back to normal. Well, when I flossed today, the floss had a really bad odor from the bacteria that built up during my time of limited oral care. After doing this three times today, I noticed a slight improvement when I soaked the floss in mouthwash before I flossed. My questions are: 1. Has anyone else had this problem during their recovery from oral surgery?? 2. Is their anything else I can do to quickly bounce back my oral health to the way it was before surgery? Please know that earlier this year, I had a professional cleaning, and all cavities and dental work done. So, before 3 weeks ago, my mouth was excellent since I brushed, flossed and used mouthwash three times per day. So, as you can imagine, this minor setback is very frustrating to me. My gums bled very little, so I am assuming things will be fine in a couple days of extensive flossing. I was just wondering if their is anything else I could do to freshen and improve my oral hygiene than I am already doing. I still use salt water, and I started biotene mouthwash and act fluoride today as well. Do I just have to give it time now to work?
