Monday night, a few of my teeth started hurting really bad. I don't have good teeth, genetically, but I have had a lot of work done on them already and really shouldn't have had more problems occurring since I have been taking care of my teeth every day for the past 2 years after being told how many problems I had. The pain was pretty bad, throbbing constantly. I wasn't able to get to sleep until 6:30a Tuesday morning, and I only slept for a few hours. It felt like there was food stuck in between my teeth so I flossed a few times but there was nothing. I used a generic brand of Orajel, but it only helped for a few minutes each time - just long enough for me to be satisfied with the result and try to lay down before it would start to hurt again. Yesterday I was taking ibuprofin whenever my teeth would start to hurt again and this worked well enough for me. Last night however, the pain increased and changed: Now, it's a pressure kind of pain, and it hurts easily three times as worse as the night before. I told my mom and she said it is most likely an abscess. I can't go to the dentist right away because I don't have any dental insurance. My mom is looking for a dentist I can go to that will take payments or will take medicaid (I will have to apply for it obviously). Until I can get to a dentist however, what can I do to ease the pain? It is unbearable. It's making my jaw ache (I already have problems with my jaw, thanks TMJD) and the whole left side of my face hurt. I was up most of the night crying because of the pain. I took some more ibuprofin but it doesn't seem to be doing much, if anything at all. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
