My Boston Terrier has had most symptoms of Parvo except for the vomitting, he sure had runny bloody stool that smelled like metal Christmas morning at 2am and keep going until about 8:30am. He was normal and playing up until then. The emergency vet we took him to tested him and it was positive, but we've only had him for 4 days and he was vaccinated on the 19th. We decided to let the breeder take him back and take care of him and give him the support and they pay for it. One question is, was that the right thing to do? The other is could it have been a false positive? I learned Boston's have sensitive stomachs, especially to foods and treats. I've been letting him chew on his dental bone whenever he's playing which is a lot. He can get bloody runny stool from the upset stomach. The breeder told me he was eating again last night and drinking water. He's even better today playing more and eating and drinking water on his own. They also gave him clavomox (sp?) so maybe it was bacterial?

They used to worry about false positive on the test but that is no longer a concern. Just like us and the flu, parvo can effect each dog differently. Sounds like you dog got his shot in time to give him some immunity. Mild cases of parvo are treated with antibiotics as long as the puppy is still drinking. Sounds like you are very lucky he had such a mild case.
