He is a dental resident...soon to be Dentist: Im a marketing assistant. His whole family is comprised of scientists and doctors. I LOVE and am proud of my working class family, but worry about how they will be treated by his family. He is a conservative Irish Catholic...I am a liberal african american ex-JW ( agnostic). SIMILARITIES we are both great debators...but fair and honest without shouting. he does not care about the differnces in our career or salary. he has a really KIND heart and is so mannerable it makes me FEEL like a better person. ____________________________________ I guess im really wondering if this can turn into anything long term (marriage) what is the OPINION of you readers?

To be honest, your class difference and political differences will weigh heavier than your race differences. Just being honest. If he comes from a family of wealthy intellectuals, prepare to be bombarded with condescending questions and comments. Typically, upper class families and families with old money will look down on someone from a lower social class, regardless of how great of a person they are. It's just the way it is. In their world, they are suppose to associate with people on their level or above, never below. I may be wrong, though. But, it's really all about your man. Your man will have to be the one to set the tone. He has to be strong enough and vocal enough to say when something's out of line and he'll have to be the one to let his family know that his decisions are his own and none of their business. They may accept you or they may superficially accept you, or not at all. It will take time to see if it's something you can handle but if it's important enough to you, you will. Good luck.
