Tooth Cavity! Havent been to dentist in years... Will it be ok?

I don't brush my teeth as often as I should-I KNOW! This morning I gave myself a 20 minute tooth brushing and discovered a little hole on the side of my front tooth. I picked at it with this dental pokey thing and discovered it went kinda deep. It didnt hurt, but I get the feeling if I dont take care of it soon it will. Im afraid of going to the dentist because A) I'm not covered on my mom's insurance anymore B) Don't think I can afford it with my part time wage C) I don't want them lecturing me and complaining about teeth that arent theirs What should I do? Can my teeth be repaired.... P.S. I need Braces and thats another reason why I dont want to go/ afraid to go.

Like anything in this world, no one can legally make you do anything so if they suggest braces, say no and they wont however I spent 2 years with them. Top and bottom. And although the braces sucked for two years my teeth looked extremely good and now I don't regret it at all. I have had 7 cavities, all of them lecture about me flossing. I don't really floss, but eh, doesn't make me unique. If the hole in your tooth is like a brownish color and cannot be removed you definitely have a active cavity that is eating away at your tooth. I have had 4 drilling's which were painful as hell because I refused Novocaine because I was young and I felt like I had the spunk and could just deal with it like a man- worst decision I made in my life haha. If they have to drill it, ask for Novocaine, undoubtedly with a hole it will be a drilling were they remove part of the tooth to remove the cavity. If they spot surface cavities, which is why you should go to the dentists often is because they are starting cavities. They can be patched extremely quickly and no pain at all whatsoever. The spot they patched with the cement-like substance can generally stop anymore cavities starting in that specific spot.
